During our 3rd semester, our group worked on a project that aimed to address the challenge of improving Carlsens Kvarter’s digital presence.
Initial steps
Our group, consisting of Abasin, Emil, Freja, Malte, and myself, kicked off the project by getting down the semester’s objectives and requirements. Finding a suitable client was our first task, and after careful consideration, agreed that Carlsens Kvarter would be an ideal choice. Thankfully, we were able to establish a collaboration with Christian, the manager at Carlsens Kvarter, who expressed his interest in our project.
We used Scrum to manage our project, which allowed us to stay organized, maintain focus, and deliver results in a timely manner. Each morning, we held short Scrum standup meetings to discuss progress, identify any roadblocks, and plan the day ahead. This ensured that everyone was aligned, and any issues or concerns were addressed and so that we could promptly figure out a solution.
Research and analysis
To lay a foundation for our project, we conducted both primary and secondary research. Our primary research focused on understanding the target audience, while secondary research delved into current design trends and effective digital marketing strategies. By combining these research findings, we were able to gain valuable insights into Carlsens Kvarter’s customer base and identify potential areas for improvement.
Design and prototyping
With our research findings, we moved forward by creating mockups and prototypes to visualize our proposed solutions. Through iterative testing and feedback, we refined our designs to ensure they resonated with the target audience. This phase of the project was particularly enlightening, as it allowed us to witness the impact of user-centered design and its influence on the overall user experience.
Photo and video
An integral part of enhancing Carlsens Kvarter’s digital presence was the visuals. To equip ourselves with the necessary skills, we underwent two weeks of photo and video education. These classes proved valuable as it provided us with the tools and knowledge required to produce high-quality visuals that would effectively engage the target audience.
The group
I have throughout most projects worked with Emil, Freja, and Malte, I was familiar with their workflow and way of working. This familiarity facilitated smooth collaboration and allowed us to leverage each other’s strengths and weaknesses effectively. We recognized and capitalized on our individual talents and skill sets, ensuring a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to the project. The cohesive teamwork and open communication within our group enabled us to overcome challenges and achieve our objectives together.
The result
Through our collective efforts, we were able to deliver a redesigned website, a hero video, an ad for Carlsens Kvarter and a series of reels for instagram. Including some strategies and methods that could improve their online presence. Our primary focus was on revamping their website to reflect the unique atmosphere and offerings of the bar. We worked with Christian to understand his vision and incorporated it into the website design, resulting in a visually appealing and user-friendly online platform.
